Thermography

Thermography or thermal imaging is a cost effective and highly efficient way of detecting different fault conditions before they happen. It is a non-destructive testing technique used that the naked eye cannot detect, saving money, time and lives.

The testing can reveal almost instantly if there are any potential problems with abnormal component temperatures and hot spots.

Any abnormalities are reported to you, allowing corrective action by your in-house electrician or preferred electrical/mechanical contractor

Why thermal imaging matters

Thermographic inspections are the most useful tool to minimise breakdowns and maintain productivity.
Your in-house electrician or electrical contractor is usually your first point of call. Unfortunately, this is often the case indicating the early stages of breakdowns and loss of productivity.
Thermographic inspections are carried out under normal operating conditions, not requiring the isolation of power therefore no additional down time or loss of production.

Why carry out regular thermographic inspections

Regular thermographic inspections maintain the integrity and reliability of your expensive equipment and to reduce and prevent unscheduled electrical breakdown. These interuptions can be extremely costly to your business and assets and in some extreme cases, the surrounding structures and safety of employees.

Many insurance under writers require regular thermographic inspections of electrical distribution systems to be carried out by a certified thermographer. These are usually scheduled annually and in some cases where the risk is higher, biannually.

Why certification matters

It is important to use a certified thermographic inspector as inspections are governed by standards which are not well understood and in many cases, completely ignored.

The easiest way to protect your business and the safety of your employees is to use a certified contractor to carry out your inspections.

Why carry out switchboard maintenance

Unlike thermographic inspections, general switchboard maintenance usually requires the power to your switchboard to be isolated. During this process, any maintenance that can be visually detected is carried out. Usually dusty environments require regular maintenance to prevent dust building up on contacts creating poor connections. Condensation or moisture can cause major breakdowns, often a lot more costly and time consuming than the scheduled maintenance shutdown.

Usually there is shutdown periods for businesses to carry out general maintenance and this is a perfect opportunity to carryout switchboard maintenance.
